A woman in Los Angeles says her Global Entry was suddenly revoked at 2:17 AM - and when she tried to renew her passport, the federal system allegedly told her no one with her identity exists anywhere in the U.S. passport database.

Not expired.
Not lost.
Not stolen.
Just... gone.

Her congressional office reportedly called the notice "highly unusual." And here's where it gets disturbing: Global Entry and the passport system are run by different agencies - yet both flagged her at the same time.

Now others across social media are coming forward saying the same thing happened to them - revoked access, missing records, no clear explanation.

She's waiting on an emergency passport appointment just to find out if she's even allowed to leave the country. Her warning at the end says it all: "If I go dark... be loud."

So ask yourself - if the system can erase them... how do you know you're still in it?

(0:00) This video is not super fun to make, however, I was encouraged to make it by the office of (0:06) my congressional representative, which is a crazy thing to say out loud. Someone or something in the (0:12) Trump administration wiped my existence from the U.S. passport database.

Let me explain.

(0:19) On December 19th, 2025, I received a notice at 2.17 in the morning, local time here in Los Angeles, (0:28) that my access to the Global Entry Traveler Program had been revoked. (0:33) And the reason for my revocation was that I no longer met the requirements for the Global Entry (0:41) Program. Now, the requirements are not having been charged with a felony.

Check. Never been (0:48) charged with a felony. Having valid identification and documents.

Check. I have valid documents. (0:55) My passport was not expired.

And one of the last things on the eligibility list (1:01) was not under investigation for terrorism. Well, that exact day, Pam Bondi sent a letter (1:11) to the FBI requesting that pro-trans activists be labeled as domestic terrorists. I'm shaking.

(1:19) Um, so as many of you guys know, I, uh, am a pro-trans activist. I have worked with the ACLU (1:29) during the U.S. versus Scrimedi case. I have a trans partner.

I have a trans sister. (1:36) Um, I am very blessed to have many trans friends. Uh, and I have worked as a healthcare provider (1:43) providing gender affirming care for trans youth.

And needless to say, I freaked the (1:49) fuck out. I did also contact friends of mine who are attorneys and friends of mine who work (1:55) in the federal government. And I was told there is a chance that this could have just been a (1:58) clerical error.

Um, and so for the sake of my mental health, I just went with that and they (2:04) told me to go ahead and apply to renew my passport online and see what happens next. (2:11) So last week I did just that. And I applied on the U.S. passport website to renew my passport (2:18) online as it expires this coming year.

Um, I was then told that no one with my identity was found (2:27) anywhere in the U.S. passport system. At this point, I got in contact with my congressional (2:34) representative and his office. Um, and was told by one of the field staff here in Los Angeles that (2:42) this specific notice was unusual and that there had been a record of clerical errors where people (2:50) had been like removed from the passport system because their passport was incorrectly marked (2:57) lost or stolen.

That is not what happened to me. And I was told that if that had happened, (3:02) the error message that I received would have said that. It didn't.

It said that no one with (3:07) my identity was found anywhere in the U.S. passport system. So, um, with the help of my congressional (3:14) representative and his office, I am now waiting for an appointment with the U.S. passport office (3:22) here in Los Angeles to see what's going on, um, to see if there are any holds on my access to (3:30) my legal documents that would allow me to travel and leave the country, um, and why this is (3:36) happening. Because right now, no one seems to have a clear reason why.

And again, it could be (3:42) clerical error. However, knowing that, um, I am allegedly the only person that this specific (3:48) series of events has happened to and also knowing that the Global Entry Program is a completely (3:54) different governmental agency than the passport system, uh, and that both of them, uh, had been (4:03) alerted of me. I don't know.

I don't know. So that is my update for you guys. And if I go dark, (4:10) I need you guys to, uh, be really loud.

And if this continues to happen to people or if this (4:17) happens to you or someone, you know, please get in contact with your congressional representative (4:24) and, um, just know that there are pathways. There are pathways. And that also you are not alone (4:30) because I have been alone this whole time.

I didn't think this was happening to anybody else. (4:34) And I still don't know of anyone else that this exact series of events has happened to. So, (4:38) um, that is my update.

Minnesota Was the Beta Test. Your city is next.

Countries don't drift toward authoritarianism — it lurches, then explodes.
While tens of thousands marched across the globe — including in Mexico City, where protestors burned effigies and denounced American strong-arm politics — the United States ran a live domestic experiment in repression. The location wasn't Berlin, Tehran or Caracas. It was Minneapolis.

And the instrument wasn't a foreign security service. It was Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Minnesota didn't just witness a crackdown on protests. It witnessed a proof of concept.

The Trigger Was a Killing. The Response Was a Message.

A civilian, Rene Good, was shot dead by a masked federal immigration officer. He deliberately shot her in the head - twice - for doing what she was told. "Move." The details matter — because they always do — but the reaction matters more. 

Tens of thousands of Minnesotans did what democracies are supposed to do when the state uses lethal force: they showed up. Peacefully. Loudly. In daylight. With phones out and hands up. No violence came from protesters. Every ounce of violence came from Trump's ICE Goons. They beat Minnesotans across the state for everything from recording ICE violence to standing on street corners to being in their own houses and refusing to open the fucking door. They tortured thousands of Minnesotans this weekend who defied Trump's campaign of fear by not giving them what they want.

And the federal government responded by flooding the state with roughly 3,000 ICE agents — armored, masked, anonymous — who moved through neighborhoods like an occupying force.

Pepper balls were fired at faces. Women were shoved and beaten. Teenagers zip-tied. Kids arrested. Homes visited. Doors knocked. Threats issued. No warrants. No proof.
No due process.

Just presence. Just fear. America's Kristallnacht is here, and it's being beta-tested in Minny.

The videos weren't leaked. They were posted — proudly — by Trump-aligned DHS and White House social accounts. The administration didn't deny what happened. They bragged about it.

This wasn't crowd control.

This was theater.

Kristallnacht Is a Loaded Word. Minnesota Earned It.

Let's be precise.

Kristallnacht wasn't just broken glass. It was the moment a state normalized mob violence in uniform, framed neighbors as criminals, and taught the public to look away while "law and order" did the dirty work.

Minnesota checked those boxes.

Federal agents went door-to-door arresting, threateing and beating residents — citizens and migrants alike — that "harboring fugitives" would bring consequences. No names. No charges. No court orders. Just intimidation backed by weapons and immunity. This video of a woman hiding in her neighbor's house, begging for help, takes me back to accounts from 80 years ago of Kristallnacht in Germany. Watch it and put yourself in the shoes of every Minnesotan in 2025 or Jewish person circa 1934-45:

That's not immigration enforcement.

That's collective punishment.

And if you think this was about Minnesota, you're missing the point.
Minnesota was chosen because it's a stress test: progressive leadership, active civil society, strong protest culture. If repression can be normalized there, it can be normalized anywhere.

The Brownshirts Have a Budget Now

Let's drop the euphemisms.

ICE has morphed into a publicly funded private domestic force operating beyond normal constitutional restraints. They don't wear local badges. They don't answer to mayors or governors. They don't need warrants if no one forces them to produce one.
They exist in a gray zone — federalized, politicized, and unleashed.

That's not accidental. It's strategic.

Authoritarian systems don't start with tanks. They start with plausible deniability and a lot of men in matching gear.

Trump Said the Quiet Part Out Loud — Again

On Air Force One, Donald Trump didn't calm tensions. He escalated them.
He argued — publicly — that people who "disrespect" ICE deserve what they get. That lethal force is justified. That this should be policy.

This is the same man who claims to care deeply about protestors abroad. The same man is threatening military action against Iran while posturing as the defender of Iranian demonstrators.

So let's say it clearly:

Trump will bomb foreign regimes for optics...

...but he'll brutalize Americans for control.

This isn't hypocrisy. Its hierarchy. It's performative democracy abroad and authoritarian dictatorship at home.

Foreign protestors are useful props.

Domestic protestors are threats.

The Global Reaction Knows What This Is
Outside the U.S., no one is confused.

From Latin America to Europe, the framing is blunt: America is no longer exporting democracy — it's exporting instability while importing authoritarian tactics.
The burning Trump effigies in Mexico City weren't anti-American. They were anti-Trump and anti-fascist. 

Venezuelan/South American gangs are hunting Americans as the State Department urges Americans to flee Venezuela.

The EU is considering MASSIVE sanctions against the US, along with an official joint statement about its authoritarian treatment of its own citizens.

World leaders are issuing statements about repression in Iran. They should be issuing them about Minnesota and Trump's Browshirt scourge, torturing human beings to create fear theater that mirrors Russian society. Men in helmets beating human beings for showing dissent. Canada's Mark Carney, specifically. 

Because when a government tests repression at home, it rarely stops voluntarily, and coordinated global condemnation is the line that needs to be drawn in blood.
This Was a Beta Test. The Rollout Comes Next.

Authoritarian systems don't flip a switch. They iterate.

You start with migrants.

Then activists.

Then journalists.

Then "harborers."

Then anyone who asks questions, anyone who looks "un-American" white.  Just ask this Target employee in Minneapolis:

He was arrested, tortured and beaten, then dropped off a few blocks away after ICE realized he's American.

Minnesota was the beta test for a national model:

federal force + media intimidation + rhetorical dehumanization + legal ambiguity.

And here's the part too many people miss:

This system requires participation — silence from institutions, cowardice from politicians, and exhaustion from the public.

That's how it scales.

Trump Isn't Governing. He's Looting the State.

Strip away the slogans and one truth remains:

Trump doesn't care about America — only how America reflects on him.

Global reputation. Personal grievance. Self-enrichment. Power retention.

That's the axis. Everything else is expendable — including the people.

A president who threatens protestors with death while demanding obedience isn't enforcing law. He's demanding submission.

And history has a word for leaders who do that.

What Happens Now Is the Point

This ends one of two ways:

Institutions reassert constitutional limits — real ones, enforced ones — and this experiment dies in Minnesota.

Or it succeeds, spreads, and becomes the new normal.

There is no third option.

Calls for international pressure, sanctions, and formal condemnation aren't hysterical. They're appropriate. The same standards applied to other regimes must apply here — or they mean nothing.

Democracy doesn't survive because it's American.

It survives because people defend it when it's inconvenient.

Minnesota just showed us what happens when they do.

The rest of the world is watching.

And so is history.

An injection that blocks the activity of a protein involved in aging reverses naturally occurring cartilage loss in the knee joints of old mice, a Stanford Medicine-led study has found. The treatment also prevented the development of arthritis after knee injuries, mirroring the ACL tears often experienced by athletes or recreational exercisers. An oral version of the treatment is already in clinical trials with the goal of treating age-related muscle weakness.

Samples of human tissue from knee replacement surgeries – which include both the extracellular scaffolding, or matrix, in the joint as well as cartilage-generating chondrocyte cells – also responded to the treatment by making new, functional cartilage.

The study results suggest it may be possible to regenerate cartilage lost to aging or arthritis with an oral drug or local injection, rendering knee and hip replacement unnecessary.

The treatment directly targets the cause of osteoarthritis, a degenerative joint disease that affects one of every five adults in the United States and is estimated to cost about $65 billion in direct health care costs each year. No drug can slow down or reverse the disease; the primary treatments for osteoarthritis are pain control and surgical replacement of the affected joints.

The protein, 15-PGDH – termed a gerozyme due to its increase in prevalence as the body ages – is a master regulator of aging. Gerozymes, identified by the same researchers in 2023, also drive the loss of tissue function. They are a major force behind age-related loss of muscle strength in mice. Blocking the function of 15-PGDH with a small molecule results in an increase in old animals' muscle mass and endurance. Conversely, expressing 15-PGDH in young mice causes their muscles to shrink and weaken. The gerozyme has also been implicated in the regeneration of bone, nerve, and blood cells.

In each of these tissues, regeneration is due to increases in the proliferation and specialization of tissue-specific stem cells. However, chondrocytes change their patterns of gene expression to assume a more youthful state without the involvement of stem cells.

"This is a new way of regenerating adult tissue, and it has significant clinical promise for treating arthritis due to aging or injury," said Helen Blau, PhD, professor of microbiology and immunology. "We were looking for stem cells, but they are clearly not involved. It's very exciting."

Blau, who directs the Baxter Laboratory for Stem Cell Biology and is the Donald E. and Delia B. Baxter Foundation Professor, and Nidhi Bhutani, PhD, associate professor of orthopaedic surgery, are the senior authors of the research, which was published online Nov. 27 in Science. Instructor of orthopaedic surgery Mamta Singla, PhD, and former postdoctoral scholar Yu Xin (Will) Wang, PhD, are the lead authors of the study. Wang is now an assistant professor at the Sanford Burnham Institute in San Diego.

'Dramatic regeneration'

"Millions of people suffer from joint pain and swelling as they age," Bhutani said. "It is a huge unmet medical need. Until now, there has been no drug that directly treats the cause of cartilage loss. But this gerozyme inhibitor causes a dramatic regeneration of cartilage beyond that reported in response to any other drug or intervention."

There are three main types of cartilage in the human body. One, elastic cartilage, is soft and flexible and forms structures like the outer ear. A second, fibrocartilage, is dense and tough, absorbing shock in areas such as between the spinal vertebrae. The third, hyaline cartilage, is smooth and glossy, providing a low-friction surface for lubrication and flexibility in joints like the ankles, hips, shoulders, and parts of the knee. Hyaline cartilage – also known as articular cartilage – is the cartilage most commonly affected by osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis occurs when a joint is stressed by aging, injury, or obesity. The chondrocytes begin to release pro-inflammatory molecules and to break down collagen, which is the primary structural protein of cartilage. When collagen is lost, the cartilage thins and softens; the accompanying inflammation causes the joint swelling and pain that are hallmarks of the disease. Under normal circumstances, articular cartilage rarely regenerates. Although some populations of putative stem or progenitor cells capable of generating cartilage have been identified in bone, attempts to identify similar populations of cells in the articular cartilage have been unsuccessful.

Previous research from Blau's lab has shown that a molecule called prostaglandin E2 is essential to muscle stem cell function. 15-PGDH degrades prostaglandin E2. Inhibiting 15-PGDH activity, or increasing levels of prostaglandin E2, supports the regeneration of damaged muscle, nerve, bone, colon, liver, and blood cells in young mice.

Blau, Bhutani, and their colleagues wondered if 15-PGDH might also play a role in aging cartilage and joints. They wanted to find out if a similar pathway contributes to cartilage loss from aging or in response to injury. When they compared the amount of 15-PGDH in the knee cartilage in young versus old mice, they saw that, as in other tissues, levels of the gerozyme increased about two-fold with age.

They next experimented with injecting old animals with a small molecule drug that inhibits 15-PGDH activity – first into the abdomen, which affects the entire body, then directly into the joint. In each case, the knee cartilage, which was markedly thinner and less functional in older animals as compared with younger mice, thickened across the joint surface. Further experiments confirmed that the chondrocytes in the joint were generating hyaline, or articular, cartilage, rather than less-functional fibrocartilage.

"Cartilage regeneration to such an extent in aged mice took us by surprise," Bhutani said. "The effect was remarkable."

Addressing ACL tears

Similar results were observed in animals with knee injuries like the ACL tears that frequently occur in people participating in sports such as soccer, basketball, and skiing that require sudden pivoting, stopping or jumping. While the tears can be surgically repaired, about 50% of people develop osteoarthritis in the injured joint within about 15 years.

The researchers found that a series of injections twice a week for four weeks of the gerozyme inhibitor after injury dramatically reduced the chance that osteoarthritis develops in the mice. Animals treated with a control drug had levels of 15-PGDH that were twice as high as in their uninjured peers, and they developed osteoarthritis within four weeks.

The animals treated with the gerozyme inhibitor also moved more typically and put more weight on the paw of the affected leg than did untreated animals.

"Interestingly, prostaglandin E2 has been implicated in inflammation and pain," Blau said. "But this research shows that, at normal biological levels, small increases in prostaglandin E2 can promote regeneration."

A closer investigation of the chondrocytes in the joints of old mice and young mice showed that old chondrocytes expressed more detrimental genes involved in inflammation and the conversion of hyaline cartilage to unwanted bone, and fewer genes involved in cartilage development.

The researchers were also able to pinpoint subcategories of old chondrocytes that change their patterns of gene expression after treatment. One, which expresses 15-PGDH and genes involved in cartilage degradation, decreased in prevalence from 8% to 3% after treatment. Another, which does not express 15-PGDH but does express genes involved in the production of fibrocartilage, also decreased in prevalence: from 16% to 8% after treatment. A third population, which does not make 15-PGDH and which expresses genes involved in hyaline cartilage formation and the maintenance of the extracellular matrix necessary for its function, increased in prevalence after treatment from 22% to 42%. The findings indicate an overall shift in gene expression after treatment to a more youthful cartilage composition – without the involvement of stem or progenitor cells.

Finally, the researchers studied human cartilage tissue removed from patients with osteoarthritis undergoing total knee replacements. Tissue treated with the 15-PGDH inhibitor for one week exhibited lower levels of 15-PGDH-expressing chondrocytes and lowered cartilage degradation and fibrocartilage genes than control tissue and began to regenerate articular cartilage.

"The mechanism is quite striking and really shifted our perspective about how tissue regeneration can occur," Bhutani said. "It's clear that a large pool of already existing cells in cartilage are changing their gene expression patterns. And by targeting these cells for regeneration, we may have an opportunity to have a bigger overall impact clinically."

Blau added, "Phase 1 clinical trials of a 15-PGDH inhibitor for muscle weakness have shown that it is safe and active in healthy volunteers. Our hope is that a similar trial will be launched soon to test its effect in cartilage regeneration. We are very excited about this potential breakthrough. Imagine regrowing existing cartilage and avoiding joint replacement."

Just create a bootable USB drive with  Rufus or Balena Etcher of any Linux distribution of your choice

Boot PC via that USB. Run it as temp OS or install. Pretty simple process.

use LibreOffice, OpenOffice or GoogleDocs. There is some adjusting process, but worth it.

Early this morning, federal agents executed a court-approved search warrant at the private residence of Hannah Natanson, a reporter for the Washington Post.

The agents searched her home and seized multiple personal electronic devices, including her phone and other digital equipment used for reporting.

Let's be precise about what the government is claiming—and what it is not claiming.

What the FBI and Trump DOJ Are Alleging

According to the Department of Justice, the search is tied to an investigation involving a government contractor suspected of improperly retaining classified materials.
Natanson herself has not been charged, is not accused of a crime, and is not alleged to have possessed classified documents.

The government's position is that her devices may contain evidence related to the contractor investigation.

It's a lie. They are trying to chill her outreach to government employees who have been fired or suspended as part of Trump's DEI purge. She just wanted to count on there being thousands of them. 

That's why the DOJ hasn't accused the journalist of wrongdoing.

No claim she violated the law.

Just the assertion that a reporter's devices might contain information the government wants. Like one of her 1169 government sources, according to Hannah Natanson's recent Reddit posts:

Why The  FBI's Explanation Is Bullshit

Seizing a journalist's devices is not a neutral investigative step. Phones and laptops are not just hardware—they are maps of confidential sources, communication trails, and reporting notes. They contain the identities of people who spoke only because they believed the press could protect them.

Under longstanding DOJ norms—respected by both Republican and Democratic administrations—journalists are afforded extraordinary protections, precisely because of this risk. Even during aggressive leak investigations, administrations historically avoided raiding reporters' homes because of the catastrophic chilling effect it creates.

Those norms were weakened during Trump's first term.

They are now being openly breached. The only thing Trump hates more than migrants, people of color, gay people, the Constitution, and the truth? Leaks. Hanah's assertion that she had the information of 1169 DOJ 'leakers' makes her a target of Trump's MAGAmerica dictatorship. 

Who Is Responsible for This Escalation

This search occurred under:

Federal Bureau of Investigation, led by Kash Patel, a Trump loyalist/kids book cartoon wizard, who has repeatedly framed leaks and journalists as enemies of the state.

A Justice Department answering directly to Donald Trump, who has spent years calling the press "the enemy of the people."

A Pentagon increasingly hostile to scrutiny under Pete Hegseth, where press access has been tightened and reporting framed as a security threat.

This matters because no modern U.S. administration raids journalists lightly. When it happens, it reflects a decision at the highest levels that intimidation is worth the cost.

Why This Is Beyond the Pale

The Trump Regime did not subpoena records/file charges or even call Ms Natanson.

They sent agents to raid her home to steal all of her devices, notes, and contacts.

This move tells every journalist covering national security: your work can now put your home under federal search. It tells every source: talking to a reporter may expose you. And it tells the public: the state is willing to cross lines it once claimed were sacred.

This is not about one investigation.

It is about whether the government still accepts that a free press is not subordinate to state power.

Once the state starts treating reporting itself as a vector of criminal exposure, freedom of the press becomes conditional—and conditional freedom is not freedom at all.

That is why this moment is not just alarming.

It is historic.

A petition has been launched on island.is calling on Minister for Foreign Affairs Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir to reject Billy Long as the United States ambassador to Iceland, following remarks he made informally to members of the U.S. Congress yesterday, as reported by Politico.

Long, whom U.S. President Donald Trump has now nominated as the next U.S. ambassador to Iceland, said that Iceland would become the 52nd state of the United States and that he himself would be its governor. He was clearly joking when making the remarks.

In the accompanying text of the petition, which has now attracted nearly 600 signatures, the following is stated:

"Billy Long was quoted as saying to members of the U.S. Congress that Iceland should become the 52nd state of the United States and that he should be its governor. These words, spoken by Billy Long, whom Donald Trump has nominated as ambassador to Iceland, may have been said in jest. Still, they are offensive to Iceland and the Icelandic people, who have had to fight for their freedom and have always been a friendly nation to the United States.

Long told Arctic Today that he had not been aware of the reaction in Iceland, nor of the response from the ministry.

He said he could understand the reaction, especially in light of the sensitive diplomatic situation between Greenland, Denmark, and the United States following President Trump's repeated statements that the United States would take over Greenland. However, he stressed that the remarks were made in jest and should not be taken seriously.

"I apologize, and that is my only comment. I look forward to working with the Icelandic nation, and I apologize that this was taken the way it was. I was with a group of friends, and there was nothing serious about it," he said.

Deutschland galt als Musterland, was Bildungsstandards anbelangt. Gymnasiasten lasen nicht nur Goethe im Original (haha), sondern auch Cicero und Pindar.

In der Bundesrepublik liegt die Analphabetenrate bei 12 Prozent. Und nicht einmal mehr Goethe wird im Original gelesen, von römischen oder griechischen Autoren ganz zu schweigen. Der weltweite Analphabeten-Durchschnitt liegt übrigens bei 13 Prozent. Wir nähern uns also Ländern wie Indien an.

The resistance of Ukraine represents, moreover, a decisive defence of the international rules-based order, as it is firmly rooted in the principles of the UN Charter, notably the right of a people to defend itself against aggression. Ein Teil der kritischen Infrastruktur in Deutschland liegt jetzt in den Händen eines US-Konzerns. Dessen Chef gilt als eng vertraut mit US-Präsident Donald Trump.

Eine Firma eines Großspenders für Donald Trump kontrolliert seit dem 16. Januar einen erheblichen Teil der deutschen Energieinfrastruktur. Der größte Tanklagerbetreiber Deutschlands, TanQuid, ist laut einem Bericht des "Spiegel" vom US-Ölkonzern Sunoco übernommen worden. Eine Übernahme war bereits im vergangenen Jahr von den beiden Firmen angekündigt worden, bedürfte aber noch der Zustimmung durch die Bundesregierung.

Zum Unternehmen gehören rund ein Fünftel der deutschen Tanklagerkapazitäten sowie mehr als tausend Kilometer strategisch bedeutsame Pipelines. Das Unternehmen mit Sitz in Duisburg hat 15 Standorte in Deutschland und ein Tanklager in Polen; hier lagern Öl und chemische Produkte zum Vertrieb in ganz Europa. Insgesamt fassen die Tanks der Firma rund drei Millionen Kubikmeter.

Eigentümer von Sunoco ist die Firma Energy Transfer von Kelcy Warren, der dem US-Präsidenten nahesteht und die MAGA-Bewegung mit Millionenspenden unterstützt hat.

Großspender für Trump

Warren begann, Trump im Rahmen seiner Wahlkampfkampagne 2016 erstmals politisch zu unterstützen, und spendete ihm mehr als 100.000 Dollar. Im selben Jahr gab er sechs Millionen Dollar an einen Super-PAC, der die Präsidentschaftskampagne von Rick Perry unterstützte – einem Mitglied des Vorstandes seines Konzerns Energy Transfer LP. Als Perry aus dem Rennen ausschied, wandte sich Warren Trump zu. Perry wurde später Energieminister.

Im August 2020 spendete Warren zehn Millionen Dollar an die Super-PAC "America First Action". Diese Gruppe wurde vom American First Policy Institute gegründet, das von ehemaligen Trump-Beratern ins Leben gerufen wurde. Das Institut verfasste die "2024 America First Agenda", die viele der umstrittenen politischen Empfehlungen des "Project 2025" aufgreift. Im Mai 2024 spendete er fünf Millionen US-Dollar an das Super-PAC "Make America Great Again".

Ministerium will keine Details nennen

Nach Informationen des Magazins hat das Bundeswirtschaftsministerium die Übernahme durch den US-Konzern am 9. Januar unter Auflagen freigegeben. Was mit den Auflagen gemeint ist und ob sie dem sicherheitspolitischen Gewicht des Geschäfts tatsächlich gerecht werden, wollte das Wirtschaftsministerium nicht sagen. Nur so viel: Die Auflagen würden "die durchgängige Versorgung mit den Tanklagerkapazitäten des TanQuid-Konzerns" garantieren und zudem die Fernleitungs-Betriebsgesellschaft betreffen.

In der Antwort auf eine Anfrage der Grünen-Abgeordneten Michael Kellner, Alaa Alhamwi und Sandra Detzer sagte die Bundesregierung im Juli: "Nur mithilfe von Lagern können Produktionsprozesse und komplexe Versorgungsstrukturen reibungslos ablaufen. Somit misst die Bundesregierung den Betreibern von Tanklagern insgesamt und unabhängig von den spezifischen Eigentumsverhältnissen eine unverzichtbare Rolle in der Produktionskette der Mineralölwirtschaft bei. Es ist daher wichtig, dass die Funktion der Tanklager aufrechterhalten bleibt." Die TanQuid GmbH & Co KG ist mit Tanklagern als Kritische Infrastruktur im Sinne des BSIG im BSI registriert.

Kritik an Übernahme strategischer Infrastruktur

Die Grünen warnten bereits vor Tagen vor einem Ausverkauf kritischer Infrastruktur. Auch Greenpeace kritisiert die Entscheidung scharf und verweist darauf, dass der Mutterkonzern Energy Transfer Umweltorganisationen mit existenzbedrohenden Klagen unter Druck setze.

Zur Übernahme gehören zudem 49 Prozent der Fernleitungsbetriebsgesellschaft, die Kerosin für Militärflugplätze liefert. Dazu gehört auch der US-Luftwaffenstützpunkt Büchel in Rheinland-Pfalz, wo amerikanische Atomwaffen lagern. Jacopo Maria Pepe von der "Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik" sagte dem "Spiegel": "Diese militärische Infrastruktur ist für die Einsatzfähigkeit der Luftwaffen extrem wichtig – dass sie jetzt zu 49 Prozent einem US-Unternehmen gehört, ist politisch hochbrisant".

Das Klinikum Nürnberg und die Paracelsus Medizinische Privatuniversität (PMU) suchen daher Teilnehmende für eine Studie: Hilft Kunsttherapie bei der Bewältigung der Post-Covid-Fatigue?

Die Klinik für Psychosomatische Medizin und Psychotherapie des Klinikums Nürnberg behandelt seit 2022 Patientinnen und Patienten mit Post-Covid-bedingter Fatigue und psychosozialen Belastungen infolge einer Corona-Infektion. Seit Oktober 2025 fördert das Bundesgesundheitsministerium die Klinik – eine Universitätsklinik der Paracelsus Medizinischen Privatuniversität (PMU) –, um die Versorgung von Menschen mit Langzeitfolgen einer Covid-19-Erkrankung durch Forschung zu verbessern. Voraussetzung sind ausreichende Deutschkenntnisse und die Möglichkeit, regelmäßig das Klinikum Nürnberg aufzusuchen. Der Studienzeitraum soll im März 2026 starten.

Kunsttherapie über zehn Wochen

Zu Beginn und am Ende der Behandlungsstudie erfolgen medizinische und psychologische Untersuchungen. Dazu gehören Blut- und Haarproben, Messungen von Blutdruck und Puls sowie Fragebögen zu Beschwerden, Belastungen und Wohlbefinden. Die Teilnehmenden werden per Zufall in zwei Gruppen eingeteilt. Eine Gruppe nimmt zehn Wochen lang wöchentlich an einer angeleiteten Kunsttherapie teil, die Achtsamkeit, Wahrnehmung und kreatives Arbeiten kombiniert. Zum Einsatz kommen in den 90- bis 120-minütigen Sitzungen beispielsweise Pinsel und Farben ebenso wie Ton oder Papier. Die Einheiten finden auf dem Campus Nord des Klinikums Nürnberg statt. Künstlerische Vorkenntnisse sind nicht nötig. Die zweite Gruppe wartet zunächst und erhält einige Monate später auch die Möglichkeit zur Therapie.

Interessierte können sich unverbindlich per E-Mail an psychosomatik_forschung@klinikum-nuernberg.de wenden. Die Teilnahme ist kostenfrei, alle Materialien werden gestellt. Nach der Studie besteht die Möglichkeit, eine stationäre oder teilstationäre Behandlung in der spezialisierten Post-Covid-Therapieeinheit des Klinikums Nürnberg zu nutzen.

Hunderttausende Betroffene in Deutschland

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Christiane Waller, die Chefärztin der Klinik für Psychosomatische Medizin und Psychotherapie, erklärt den wissenschaftlichen Ansatz zu der neuen Studie: ,,Kunsttherapie wirkt stressreduzierend und fokussierend. Wir wissen, dass Kunsttherapie bei chronischen körperlichen Erkrankungen Erschöpfungssymptome lindern kann. Wir denken, dass das auch bei der Post-Covid-Erkrankung so sein könnte."

Zum Hintergrund: Von Post-Covid spricht man, wenn Symptome länger als zwölf Wochen nach einer Corona-Infektion anhalten und sich nicht anders erklären lassen. In Deutschland sind Schätzungen zufolge mehrere Hunderttausend bis über eine Million Menschen nach einer Covid-19-Erkrankung betroffen. Die Beschwerden reichen von starker Erschöpfung, Konzentrations- und Gedächtnisproblemen über Schlafstörungen bis hin zu Schmerzen, Atemnot oder innerer Unruhe. Manche Betroffene entwickeln ein chronisches Fatigue-Syndrom (ME/CFS), das die körperliche und geistige Belastbarkeit stark einschränkt. Trotz intensiver Forschung fehlt bisher eine allgemein wirksame Standardtherapie. Neue Ansätze sind daher dringend nötig.

(0:00) My Lords, I declare my interest as the Director of the Free Speech Union and I congratulate the (0:05) four new members on their excellent speeches. I want to draw your Lordships' House attention (0:13) to just one section of the Employment Rights Act and its impact on the hospitality sector, (0:22) namely section 21, which extends the liability of employers for the harassment of their employees (0:30) to third parties. From October of this year, employers will have a duty to protect their (0:37) workers from third parties.

I should make clear that we're not talking about third-party (0:43) sexual harassment, which they were already liable for, but third-party non-sexual harassment. (0:50) And what does that mean for the hospitality sector? It means employers will have to take (0:56) all reasonable steps, those are the words in the Act, to protect their employees from harassment (1:05) by customers. That might not sound too onerous until you factor in that harassment includes (1:12) indirect harassment, which has been defined by the Employment Tribunal as including overheard (1:18) conversations, remarks, comments, jokes that an employee may find offensive or upsetting (1:26) in virtue of their protected characteristics.

And it's for that reason that the Free Speech (1:31) Union has been referring to section 21 as the banter ban. A couple of weeks ago, (1:38) the government quietly released a 40-page impact assessment about section 21 that says it's likely (1:47) to cost the owners of small businesses $23.7 million to familiarise themselves with their new (1:54) legal obligations, with ongoing costs of £124,000 a year for 10 years. The total cost (2:03) during that period, it says, could be as high as £59 million.

That is, of course, (2:11) a woeful underestimate. One of the assumptions in the impact assessment is that it will take (2:17) business owners no more than half an hour to master their new duties under section 21 (2:25) of the Act. Half an hour.

My Lords, that's not the view of the Equality and Human Rights (2:32) Commission, as set out in a briefing it produced for your Lordships' House when we were debating (2:38) the bill. The EHRC drew attention to the conflict between clause 21, as it then was, (2:45) and existing anti-discrimination provisions. It said a third party may themselves be protected (2:53) from discrimination, while their conduct could simultaneously be considered harassment by an (2:59) employee.

That makes the legal balancing between rights and obligations difficult for employers (3:05) to manage in practise. I'll give just one example of the kind of conflict the EHRC has in mind, (3:13) and which hospitality businesses will now have to navigate. Should they prevent trans women (3:19) customers from using the ladies lavatories? On the one hand, a female employee may have a claim for (3:27) third party harassment in the tribunal if she finds herself having to share the facilities (3:33) with a biological male.

On the other, a trans woman customer may have a claim for discrimination (3:40) if the business owner, as a service provider, fails to discharge its duty under section 29 of (3:47) the Equality Act, which makes it unlawful for a service provider to discriminate against a person (3:53) who is using or seeking to use its services. My Lords, this is precisely the issue the Women and (4:00) Equalities Minister has been wrestling with since the EHRC submitted its advice last October about (4:08) how to revise the Code of Practise on services, public functions and associations covering, (4:13) among other things, access to single-sex women's spaces. We were told in this House only this week (4:20) that the reason there's been such a delay in the issuing of this Code of Practise is because this (4:28) is such a fiendishly complicated area of law, and it's essential the government gets it right.

(4:35) Yet, if a government minister can't master this area of law in three months, with all the legal (4:42) resources at her disposal, what hope do publicans have to get their heads around it in half an hour? (4:50) My Lords, section 21 of the Act imposes a new duty on small businesses in the hospitality sector (4:56) that touches on an incredibly complicated area of law, with real financial risks if they get it (5:03) wrong. For many publicans, the cost of the legal advice alone, let alone the compliance costs, (5:11) will be the final straw. And we're talking, remember, about just one section of the (5:16) Employment Rights Act.

Could the noble Lord the Minister at the very least give retail and (5:22) hospitality businesses a 12-month reprieve before strangling them with this new, profoundly unwelcome (5:30) bit of red tape?

Labour has approved a rollout of "Stalinist" 15-minute cities across the UK, The Telegraph can reveal.

Ministers have said that they will allow councils to use driver licence databases to impose fines on drivers who fall foul of "traffic filters", which restrict driving in certain areas.

The controls on motorists, which are to be implemented for the first time in Oxford city centre later this year, have been described as "perverse" by motor groups.

The 15-minute city is based on the idea that a person can access amenities within a quarter of an hour by walking or cycling. In some cases, this could result in traffic restrictions being brought in for drivers.

The most high-profile example of such a plan is in Oxford, where the council put forward proposals to divide the city into six "15-minute neighbourhoods".

Under the scheme, drivers would need a residents' permit that allows 100 days of free travel per year through six traffic filters during operating hours.

Meanwhile, a separate permit allows 25 days of free travel per year through six congestion charge locations during charging hours, and after this, drivers face fines if they travel without the relevant permission.

Greg Smith, shadow transport minister, said: "This is the blueprint for a national rollout. Labour has given the green light for draconian councils like Oxfordshire to police how people live, move and drive, using cameras and fines backed by DVLA data.

"Oxford is the test case, but this is Labour's blueprint for the country."

'A page out of the East Germany playbook'

Duncan White, director, of the Alliance of British Drivers said 15-minute cities were an "abomination".

He said it was a "perverse" and "Stalinist" approach to social control, adding: "It is an encroachment on civil liberties, and it is a page out of the East Germany playbook.

"With the 15-minute city, you will have to, in effect, apply for an internal passport to go and visit your granny. From a civil liberties perspective, it is nonsensical. From an operational point of view, it is bizarre."

Jack Cousens, head of roads policy at the AA, said: "What local authorities sometimes struggle to remember is that the car remains and continues to remain the main method which people use to travel around our country.

"Cars coming into the town centres generate a huge amount of parking revenue for local authorities, and the local high street is dependent on strong, consistent footfall, and cars are probably the easiest way for people to get in and out of town centres.

"We don't want barriers that harm the national economy and the local economy."


Under the previous government, plans were drawn up to block councils from using the driver licence database to implement traffic restriction measures.

In 2023, the Tories announced that they would consult on legislative changes and new guidance, including removing councils' access to DVLA data where schemes relied on excessive camera enforcement, rationed car use, or failed to command the backing of residents and local businesses.

Simon Lightwood, the local transport minister, responded to a parliamentary question by Richard Holden, the shadow transport secretary, by confirming Labour would proceed with this approach.

This means councils across the country could follow Oxford's lead and introduce camera-enforced traffic filters.

It comes after The Telegraph revealed last month that Labour has started a crackdown on parking spaces.

'Dangerous driving'

Under plans published by the Government, councils will be required to impose sweeping parking restrictions limiting the number of spaces on new housing developments without any justification.

Labour has also dropped plans to curb the rollout of controversial Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and 20mph zones.

Ministers ditched reforms that would have restricted council powers to control traffic and levy "unfair" fines and parking charges.

A Department for Transport spokesman said: "Local councils use DVLA data to help keep our roads safe and crack down on dangerous driving. How they use this information is up to each council, so it works best for their communities."

The spokesman added that implementing traffic filters and other traffic management measures is a local authority matter, and the government has "no plans" to get involved in the roll-out of these schemes.

Unter der vorherigen Regierung wurden Pläne ausgearbeitet, um die Gemeinden daran zu hindern, die Führerscheindatenbank zur Umsetzung von Verkehrsbeschränkungsmaßnahmen zu nutzen.

Im Jahr 2023 kündigten die Tories an, dass sie sich über Gesetzesänderungen und neue Richtlinien beraten würden, darunter die Aufhebung des Zugangs der Gemeinden zu DVLA-Daten, wenn Programme auf übermäßige Kameraüberwachung, rationierte Autonutzung oder die fehlende Unterstützung durch Anwohner und lokale Unternehmen setzten.

(0:42) We are, for the first time in years, at full war against a regime that has declared war on its own citizenry. (0:51) I don't call it a protest anymore.
It is a genuine revolution for a nation that is tired of 46 years of religious dictatorship and tyranny. (1:01) The number of victims is really a massacre. (1:04) In darkness, when they cut off communications to the whole world, and they take on brave young Iranians who have been fighting and asking for their freedom.
(1:13) It has been horrendous, the reports that we have gotten over the last few days, of the extent of the massacre this regime has extended. (1:21) But when you are at war, you are prepared to fight until the very end, and there's no point of return for us. (1:26) So we all are committed to liberate our country.
(1:30) We only hope that the free world will come to our help. (1:33) And this time, instead of appeasing this regime time and again, this time they will stay with the Iranian people (1:38) and make sure that we can put an end to this regime and finally liberate ourselves.

Do you expect a U.S. intervention?

Reza Pahlavi
(1:54) All options, as the President said, is on the table. (1:57) We believe that a rapid and necessary strike to dismantle the regime's mechanism and apparatus of repression, (2:08) that means targeting IRGC and other elements tied to the regime machinery of repression, (2:14) would be a very effective way to weaken the regime and make it impossible for them to use the level of brutality that we have seen against unarmed civilians. (2:25) That's the only time that you can actually help this nation, giving them a fair chance to succeed, (2:31) if indeed the objective is to, on the one hand, provide our nation with freedom, (2:38) but as an element, unlike this regime that has always been hostile to the West, and in particular to the United States, (2:45) a nation where the Iranian people want to live at peace in the region and work with their neighbors (2:50) and provide that level of tranquility and stability that is the best strategic interest of the Western countries, including the United States.
(2:58) And I think this is something that Donald Trump understands fully.

(3:07) I'm not asking for any personal endorsement from any leader anywhere in the world. (3:12) What I do ask them to do is to help the Iranian people and respond to their appeal for help.
(3:19) This is the best way that the world can help us. (3:23) And I, of course, have offered to help my compatriots at their call to lead this transition, (3:30) move beyond this regime and bring it to its ultimate conclusion, (3:35) which hopefully will be a secular democratic system in Iran once we can organize free elections. (3:40) We have a plan for that, which is quite extensive, and Iran's prosperity project that has various phases to do that.
(3:47) We would like to work with all those who are willing to help and assist us in that process. (3:51) So there's a lot going on as we speak. (3:53) But first and foremost, we'll have to see in what way the response will occur (3:58) and how soon can Iranians be in a better position to then push for the ultimate move.
(4:04) Everything will be riding to a great extent on this intervention that everybody's awaiting.

(4:09) For some, you're seen as a beacon of hope. (4:11) But with all respect, in fact, there is no proof of how many people really support you.
(4:18) So what makes you more than a self-proclaimed future leader?

(4:26) Millions of people came to the streets in Iran, in the four corners of Iran. (4:30) By the millions, they were chanting my name. (4:33) They were saying, Pahlavi Bar Mingardeh, which means Pahlavi will return.
(4:37) They've been chanting, Iran is ready now. Give us orders, Shahzadeh. (4:42) My name was chanted.
It's written on the walls. (4:45) I don't know how much more evidence do you need to have a proof that I have actually (4:50) the support of millions of my compatriots who have called me by name, who have asked me to step in. (4:55) And I have.
So I have no doubt in my mind that this support is definitely out there. (5:00) What the world needs to understand is that I'm here to help with the transition. (5:05) I'm not running for office.
I'm not asking for anything in return. (5:10) But I know and understand how crucial my role could be to be that agent of change (5:16) as a father to the nation and as a servant to the people. (5:20) And that is my commitment to them.
And I think that's why they trust me. (5:24) And that's why they call me, because they know that for the past 46 years, (5:27) I have never, ever wavered from this commitment beyond my words in action. (5:34) And that's why today's Gen Z of Iran comes to me, calls me as a father, (5:38) and want me to lead them to the final victory.
And I'm ready to do my part.

(5:44) Let me ask you, you have critics who fear that upon a possible return to Iran, (5:49) you will aim at forming perhaps a new autocracy, possibly a new Pahlavi dynasty. (5:56) So in what respect do you distance yourself from your father's way of governing?

(6:04) First of all, there are some critics that are obviously parroting the narrative of a regime (6:11) that would try to do anything from smear campaigns to lies to all sorts of accusations (6:19) that are totally unfounded.
Look, I lived a better part of my life for the past 46 years (6:25) in the Western world, in democratic countries. I understand the importance and the values (6:32) of all the institutions and the mechanisms to make sure that you cannot deviate from that, (6:37) where there's no concentration of power, when you can fight back corruption, (6:41) how important transparency is, and everything else in between. (6:45) This is something that we will utilize as tools to strengthen our institution, (6:49) to bring our civil society into the picture, well beyond the structure of governance.
(6:54) How would I possibly be someone that would not understand the importance of it? (6:58) And because I understand it, and I've learned it in practice, (7:01) that's exactly what I'd like to bring back to Iran. So we as Iranians are guaranteed (7:06) in the future to have self-determination, to have freedom, but as to the measure (7:11) of what will determine the future, there's nothing other than the ballot box (7:15) that ultimately will decide it. So I wonder if these critics are just as committed (7:21) to democracy as I am, because if they are believing in democracy, (7:25) then they shouldn't fear the ballot box.
My question to them is, (7:30) do you fear the result of the ballot box? I don't.

(7:34) So are you still planning to get back to Iran? And how?

(7:41) Well, how I get there, I'm working on it, but I'd like to be there, (7:45) even before the regime collapses, if possible. But I'll be there sooner than anything, (7:50) able to help my compatriots and lead us to the next phase.

We are all determined to liberate our country, and we only hope that the free world will come to our aid and this time not repeatedly appease the regime, but instead support the Iranian people and ensure that we can overthrow this regime and ultimately liberate ourselves.

All options are on the table, as the president has said.
A swift and necessary strike to disable the regime's repressive mechanisms and apparatus—specifically targeting the Revolutionary Guard and other elements connected to the regime's machinery of oppression—would be a highly effective way to weaken the regime and make it impossible for it to continue its current brutality against unarmed civilians. This is the only moment when this nation can truly be helped and given a fair chance of success, because if the goal is indeed to grant our nation freedom, then this element has always been hostile to the West, and especially to the United States. The nation, the Iranian people, wish to live in peace with the region, cooperate with their neighbors, and ensure the peace and stability that are in the best strategic interest of Western states and the United States. I mean, Donald Trump understands that completely.

I don't ask any political leader anywhere in the world for personal endorsement. But I do ask that you help the Iranian people and respond to their pleas for help.
This is the best way the world can help us. And of course, I have offered my fellow citizens, in response to their calls, my help to lead this transition, to overcome the regime, and to bring to a close the process, which will hopefully result in a secular democracy in Iran if we can organize free elections. We have a comprehensive plan for this, a multi-phase prosperity project for Iran.
We are ready to cooperate with anyone who wants to help and support us. So, quite a lot is already happening, but first and foremost, we need to see what the reaction is and how soon the Iranians are in a better position to then push for the final step. Everything depends very much on this intervention we are all waiting for.

The State Department is committed to protecting our nation and our citizens by upholding the highest standards of national security and public safety through our visa process.  A U.S. visa is a privilege, not a right.

We use all available information in our visa screening and vetting to identify visa applicants who are inadmissible to the United States, including those who pose a threat to U.S. national security.  Under new guidance, we will conduct a comprehensive and thorough vetting, including online presence, of all student and exchange visitor applicants in the F, M, and J nonimmigrant classifications.

To facilitate this vetting, all applicants for F, M, and J nonimmigrant visas will be instructed to adjust the privacy settings on all of their social media profiles to "public."

Our overseas posts will resume scheduling F, M, and J nonimmigrant visa applications soon.  Applicants should check the relevant embassy or consulate website for appointment availability.

Every visa adjudication is a national security decision.  The United States must be vigilant during the visa issuance process to ensure that those applying for admission into the United States do not intend to harm Americans and our national interests, and that all applicants credibly establish their eligibility for the visa sought, including that they intend to engage in activities consistent with the terms for their admission.

Travel Authorization (ESTA).

Abstract: CBP invites the public to
comment on the following changes
listed below, that were submitted to and
approved by OMB through an
emergency clearance, with the
justification of an unanticipated event
and reasons to believe following the
normal PRA process would result in
public harm.

1. Voluntary Self-Reported Exit
(VSRE) Pilot and I–94 Automation: CBP
is implementing a new functionality
within the CBP Home mobile
application, or any successor mobile
application, to allow aliens who are
subject to I–94 requirements and who
are departing the United States, to
voluntarily provide biographic data
from their passports or other travel
documents, facial images, and
geolocation to provide evidence of that
departure. Note that while the use of
this functionality is optional, submitting
a facial image is a required part of this
functionality. This collection of data is
a part of CBP's critical efforts to fulfill
DHS's statutory mandate to collect
biometric information from departing
aliens and CBP's plans to fully automate
I–94 information collection. This
capability will close the information gap
on alien entries and exits by making it
easier for aliens subject to I–94
requirements to report their exit to CBP
after their departure from the United
States. It will also create a biometrically
confirmed, and thereby more accurate,
exit record for such aliens leaving the
United States.
CBP will use geolocation services to
confirm that the traveler reporting their
departure is outside the United States,
as well as, run ''liveness detection''
software to determine that the selfie
photo is a live photo, as opposed to a
previously uploaded photo. The mobile
application will then compare the facial

image submitted to facial images for that
person already retained by CBP to
confirm the exit biometrically. CBP will
use this information to help reconcile a
traveler's exit with that traveler's last
arrival. The report of exit will be
recorded as a confirmed departure in
the Arrival and Departure Information
System (ADIS) maintained by CBP.
Aliens can use this information as proof
of departure, which is most relevant in
the land border environment, but may
be used for departures via air and sea if
a traveler desires. This is also beneficial
for the alien, as having proof of an exit
via a CBP mobile application provides
travelers with evidence for Officers to
consider in the event that the Officer is
unsure whether a nonimmigrant
complied with I–94 requirements during
their previous entry.

2. Photo Upload for ESTA Website
and Mobile: CBP intends to update the
ESTA application website to require
applicants to provide a photograph of
their face, or ''selfie'', in addition to the
photo of the passport biographical page.
In addition, CBP intends to update the
mobile application and require third
party submissions to include a ''selfie''
or photograph of the applicant's face.
These photos would be used to better
ensure that the applicant is the rightful
possessor of the document being used to
obtain an ESTA authorization.
Currently, applicants are allowed to
have a third party apply for an ESTA on
their behalf. While this update would
not remove that option, third parties,
such as travel agents or family members,
would be required to provide a
photograph of the ESTA applicant.
As noted previously, the ESTA
Mobile application currently requires
applicants to take a live photograph of
their face, which is compared to the
passport photo collected during the
ESTA Mobile application process. This
change will better align the application
processes and requirements for ESTA
website and ESTA Mobile applicants.
3. VWP Burden of Information
Collection Increase: CBP has calculated
the estimated burden for this
information collection to account for
additional countries added into the
VWP over the next three years. As an
ESTA is required for any travel to the
United States under the VWP, the
collection is being updated to include
travelers from current VWP designated
countries and travelers from potentially
added designated countries over the
next three years.
Additionally, CBP recently revised
the collection to add Qatar into the
VWP. CBP invites the public to
comment on the PRA burden of the Visa

Waiver Program Designation (VWP)
changes.
CBP also invites the public to
comment on the newly proposed
changes listed below:

1. ESTA Website Decommission: CBP
will decommission the ESTA website
Application process to establish the
ESTA Mobile application as the sole
platform to apply for a new ESTA.
CBP intends to require applicants to
submit ESTA applications solely via the
ESTA Mobile application; consequently,
travelers would no longer be permitted
to submit ESTA applications using the
existing ESTA website. CBP believes
that moving to a mobile-only approach
for ESTA submissions will both
enhance security and improve
efficiency. The ESTA website would
remain available as a resource for
information about the ESTA program, as
well as allow applicants to check the
status of their ESTA applications but
will not be used to collect information
from applicants.

Currently, applicants can apply for an
ESTA via the ESTA website or the ESTA
Mobile application. However, poor
quality image uploads to the ESTA
website have resulted in applicants
bypassing the facial comparison
screening. A case study from the
National Targeting Center (NTC)
Traveler Application Security Unit
(TASU) of a poor-quality passport photo
submission demonstrates the increased
accuracy of live mobile image capture
over web-based uploads. NTC TASU
identified over 2,400 poor quality
passport biographical page uploads and
over 8,000 invalid passport photos that
led to negative or failed photo
comparison screenings. CBP believes
that travelers are aware of this
vulnerability and have begun to exploit
it by purposely uploading poor quality
images to avoid detection.
Additionally, CBP continues to
struggle with fraudulent third-party
websites. Third-party fraudulent
websites charge travelers exorbitant fees
to process an application, where many
of these applications may never be
processed by CBP, resulting in a traveler
being unable to board a U.S. bound
plane.

Lastly, unlike ESTA Mobile, the ESTA
website is unable to validate the
authenticity of the passport through the
certificates embedded on the electronic
chip (e-Chip). Bad actors exploit this
vulnerability to apply for an ESTA. NTC
TASU has discovered hundreds of
fraudulent ESTAs created by facilitators
to support visa applications. These
facilitators uploaded fraudulent
passport bio pages to obtain approved
ESTAs. travelers then presented official

ESTA printouts, falsely claiming the
ESTA holder was a spouse, to
strengthen their visa applications.

The ESTA Mobile application
provides superior identity verification
methods, including liveness detection,
facial recognition and Near Field
Communication (NFC)-based passport
scanning/electronic chip verification.
Applying for an ESTA on the website
does not allow NFC verification of an
ePassport, unlike when using the mobile
app. The current ESTA Mobile
submission process includes retrieving
biographic information and portrait
photo from the e-Chip, matching the
portrait with a live selfie via the CBP
Traveler Verification Service (TVS), and
auto-denying applications that fail
Country Signing Certificate validation
from the Traveler Document
Authentication System.
While transitioning to a mobile-only
ESTA system may present some initial
challenges, the long-term benefits,
including enhanced security and fraud
reduction, make the transition a viable
national security decision. CBP believes
the continued evolution of mobile
technology will further streamline and
secure the traveler authentication
process, paving the way for future
advancements in contactless verification
and biometric authentication.
2. Romania Removal from Visa
Waiver Program (VWP): Due to the
removal of Romania from the approved
list of countries under the VWP, CBP is
updating relevant collections to reflect
this removal. The public can refer to
https://www.dhs.gov/visa-waiver-
program for the list of approved
countries under the VWP.
3. Mandatory Social Media: In order
to comply with the January 2025
Executive Order 14161 (Protecting the
United States From Foreign Terrorists
and Other National Security and Public
Safety Threats), CBP is adding social
media as a mandatory data element for
an ESTA application. The data element
will require ESTA applicants to provide
their social media from the last 5 years.
4. High Value Data Elements: To
comply with the January 2025 E.O.
(14161), and the April 4, 2025,
Memorandum Updating All Forms to
Collect Baseline Biographic Data, CBP
will add several ''high value data fields''
to the ESTA application, when feasible.
This is in addition to the information
already collected in the ESTA
application.
The high value data fields include:
a. Telephone numbers used in the last
five years;
b. Email addresses used in the last ten
years;
