Wikipedia is shit. It is fraud, it is lies, it is theft. I do hate it.

Here now one more example how they mess up.

In my childhood American soldiers lived with us and we heard their music. So I know some of the old songs. One of them is "I want to go home". I love it.

Searching for the song in the Web now I found it mentioned on Wikipedia.

This is what El Stupido Grande wrote:

The song is the working man's complaint, and "with its melody reminiscent of the 'Sloop John B,' describes the alienation felt by many rural southerners in the mid North," wrote country music historian Bill Malone. "Here, [Bare's] earnest and plaintive interpretation lends great believability to this mournful song."[5]

Too stupid to read and too stupid to listen...

This song dates back to somewhere between the late 1700s to the mid 1800s.
Its actually an old pirate song. Listen to the words.
I want to go home

pirates were known to take hostages and then force them to be one of their own or walk the plank.
Even that far back im positive johnny cash did it best

That is the real song, and someone wrote the explanation for the contents.

Here is about the real Sloop John B. and its owner, Captain John Bethel:

Today, Captain John Bethel's house is for rent:

Some time after Jonny Cash the Beach Boys made their version of the old song:

Original

Sloop John B.

We come on the sloop John B
My grandfather and me
Around Nassau town we did roam
Drinking all night
Got into a fight
Well, I feel so broke up
I want to go home

So hoist up the John B′s sail
See how the main sail sets
Call for the captain ashore
Let me go home
Let me go home
I wanna go home, yeah, yeah
Well, I feel so broke up
I wanna go home

The first mate, he got drunk
And broke in the captain's trunk
The constable had to come and take him away
Sheriff John Stone
Why don′t you leave me alone? Yeah, yeah
Well, I feel so broke up
I wanna go home

So hoist up the John B's sail (hoist up the John B's sail)
See how the main sail sets (see how the main sail sets)
Call for the captain ashore, let me go home
Let me go home
I wanna go home, let me go home
Why don′t you let me go home? (Hoist up the John B′s sail)
Hoist up the John B (hoist up the John B's)
I feel so broke up, I wanna go home
Let me go home

The poor cook, he caught the fits
And threw away all my grits
And then he took, and he ate up all of my corn
Let me go home
Why don′t they let me go home?
This is the worst trip I've ever been on

Hoist up the John B′s sail (hoist up the John B's sail)
See how the main sail sets (see how the main sail sets)
Call for the captain ashore, let me go home
Let me go home
I wanna go home
Let me go home

Lyrics

We sailed on the ship John B, my grandfather and me
Around Nassau town we did roam
Drinking all night, got into a fight
Well, I feel so homesick I wanna go home

So hoist up the John B sail, see how the mainsail sets
Call for the captain ashore, let me go home
Let me go home, why don't you let me go home?
Well, I feel so homesick I wanna go home

The first mate, he got drunk, broke up the people's trunk
Constable had to come and take him away
Sheriff John Stone, why don't you leave me alone?
Well, I feel so homesick I wanna go home

Then the cook, he caught the fits, threw out all of my grits
Then he took and ate up all of my corn
Let me go home, why don't you let me go home?
Well, this is the worst trip since I have been born

So hoist up the John B sail, see how the mainsail sets
Call for the captain ashore, let me go home
Let me go home, why don't you let me go home?
Well, I feel so homesick I wanna go home
