This video still hits me every time I watch it. It's one of the most moving and emotional videos of a live broadcast I've ever watched.

Lucy Aharish, an Arab Israeli news anchor for Channel 13, in the days after October 7, with country still on fire, and yet she just switched into English mid-broadcast and talked to the world like this is her home. Because it is.

She even apologized for doing it. "I'm sorry I'm using the microphone like this. As a journalist it's the only weapon I have."

Then she said OUR beloved country is under attack. Hamas is a terror organization. Not a government. Not a leadership. They murdered babies and children and old people and women and men in their beds. Kidnapped them. They fired rockets at civilians.

She didn't spend one second making the story about being Arab. She said WE. Left, right, religious, secular, Jews, Christians, Druze, Muslims, people who came from everywhere. It's the same fight. OUR lives. OUR kids.

Yes Israel argues. Every country argues. That doesn't mean we don't protect this place.

Then she went after the ones who still wouldn't condemn it. "Imagine Saturday morning. Kids asleep next to you. Sirens. And suddenly some terrorist is in the house murdering your family in front of you. Can you imagine that? Look into our eyes. Stand with us."

A lot of people were very careful that week. But she wasn't. And that's why I still play it.

(0:00) I'm sorry that I'm using my microphone to send a message to the world. (0:05) As a journalist, this is my only weapon. (0:08) Since Saturday morning, the state of Israel is under attack.

(0:12) Our beloved country is under attack. (0:15) We are under an attack of a brutal, barbaric, inhumane terror organization. (0:23) Not an entity, not a government, not a leadership, but a terror organization.

(0:30) Hamas murdered and slaughtered in cold blood innocent babies, children, elderly, women (0:40) and men in their homes, in their beds.

(0:44) Hamas kidnapped and took captive innocent babies, children, elderly, women and men.

(0:53) Hamas has targeted and fired thousands of rockets and missiles on innocent babies, children, (1:00) elderly women and men, civilians, citizens of the sovereign state of Israel.

(1:07) And we, the citizens of the state of Israel, all of us, left and right, secular and religious, (1:17) Jews, Christians, Druze, Muslims, minorities and immigrants from all over the world, (1:25) stand united together in this fight.

(1:28) We are fighting for our lives, for our future and mostly for the future of our children.

(1:36) Don't be mistaken, we experience difficulties, disagreements and major disputes like any (1:43) other country on this globe.

(1:45) But it does not mean that we will not protect ourselves and our children, our homeland.

(1:53) And for everyone out there who's not condemning this inhumane massacre, try to imagine for (2:01) a second that you're waking up on Saturday morning with your children sleeping next to (2:07) you, waking up to the sounds of sirens and then in a split of a second, a terrorist comes (2:15) into your home, your safe shelter and starts murdering your family in front of your eyes.

(2:24) Can you imagine that?

(2:27) Look into the victim's eyes, look into our eyes, in the eyes of all the citizens of this (2:36) land and stand with us on the right side of history.
