In response to prompting by the Center for Inquiry, I submitted letters to my senators concerning a pro-homeopathy bill (S. 4692).

I received a response from Senator Tammy Duckworth. Following descriptions of the role of the FDA and the provisions of the bill, the letter continued:

"As your Senator, one of my top priorities is ensuring Americans have access to drugs and medical products that are safe and effective. Safe manufacturing practices, proper testing and standardized labeling of products are critically important for the safety of individuals. Americans deserve to know that the products they purchase and consume have been shown to be both safe and effective. Moving forward, I will work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure the FDA appropriately balances its top priority of safeguarding Americans against dangerous drugs with preserving access to safe and effective homeopathic products."

The letter, which I assume was just written by staff, does not respond to the points raised by CSI, and does not indicate support for or against the proposed bill. It also shows ignorance of homeopathy, by referring to "safe and effective homeopathic products," since there are none.

Senator Duckworth,

homeopathy is not safe and it is not effective. Homeopathy is nothing but fraud, and never was anything else.

Why do you support fraud, endangering US-American citizens?
